Reality is Devastating
Reality is devastating
No time for sweet feeling
Just urgency
Fast walking towards
The uncertainty of everything
No time for hope
No time for faith
A heaviness in your collarbones saying
This is it.
Reality is the heaviness
Hope is the sky
You can’t reach it I know it
And you try.
Reality latches onto even the
Most hopeful
Makes grey your once blue skies
Dims the light of your faith
Reality
But who made this one
So devastating?
Whereas mine has a glimmer of hope
Crackling with desire
My desire has its own gravitational pull
My desire makes new galaxies
Yet still faced with the weight
Of reality, my desire
Succumbs to the heaviness and I’m left
On my couch
Tingling in my collarbones
Weighing me down
I’m saying to my therapist
“Reality is devastating”
She’s like
“Tell me more”
but everything’s become too grey
And I’m almost hopeless
I say
“There’s no hope in reality”
She says
“Say more”
And I cry because
I can’t
Reality has captive my
Collarbones and my
Memories of you
It’s weighing me
Down.
