Now That You Want Someone Else
My knees look rough but
That's just because I've been
Running and running.
When you pushed me away in
Your sleep I clung to the edge
Of the mattress.
I rolled over onto your carpet.
I memorized your ceiling, and all
The little parts of me that had
Gotten stuck between the wood.
Now that you want someone else,
I can breathe a little easier.
There's nothing else to
Admit to. Nothing to
wait for.
I came alive in your body
And started to forget mine.
I came alive in your body
With such intensity
That I started dreaming in it.
Is that what love is?
Just yesterday I passed
The street where we first
met.
I thought it would be nice
To go back.
To meet you again.
To never know anything.
To let you buy
Me a drink while I admire
Your sharp features.
